MariaDB and Foedus paths crossed less than a year ago when I met Paolo Messina at a two-day IBM event in Tuscany. IBM invited me, as the MariaDB Italian representative, to introduce MariaDB as an Open Source Solution for the POWER8 platform.
Installing MariaDB became very easy on the latest CentOS /RHEL Linux version 7. During initial setup MariaDB has a tick in the graphical setup environment which enables MariaDB and replaces MySQL.
It's always a pleasure to attend promotional events on your doorstep. Yesterday the RedHat European Roadshow rolled into my hometown to take over the Mermaid Conference Centre in Blackfriars, EC4. Not a venue I’d been to before, I must admit, but easy enough to reach after a refreshing morning walk down the South Bank from Waterloo station.
Congratulations to the entire team at Red Hat, for the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL7). The release notes have something important, under Web Servers & Services:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 was declared GA on Tuesday, more than 3.5 years after the release of RHEL 6. A big piece of news with this release is that it includes MariaDB Server instead of Oracle MySQL as "the default implementation of MySQL in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7". What does this mean?
Trade show season is in full swing again for SkySQL: The MariaDB Company. Next week we will be attending the Red Hat Summit in San Francisco. This is the 10th year of this great event, but our first time as a sponsor.
