Overview
MariaDB SkySQL is configured by default for data protection, security, and performance.
Available configuration parameters differ by service and topology.
Database configuration can be changed where permitted by SESSION
variables or using the Configuration Manager. GLOBAL
variables can not be customized except using the Configuration Manager. Power Tier customers can contact us regarding custom configuration needs.

Manage Configurations
The Configuration Manager option is found in the SkySQL main menu (left navigation).
Access Configuration Manager
To access the Configuration Manager:
Log in to the SkySQL Portal.
Click on "Configuration Manager" in the SkySQL main menu (left navigation).
View a Configuration
Configuration details can be viewed from within the Configuration Manager and, if a custom configuration has been applied to a service, the details can be viewed from the "Your services" page.
Within the Configuration Manager you can view the details of any existing configuration.
To view a configuration from within the Configuration Manager:
Click on the desired Configuration Name.
From the "Your services" page, you can view the details of the configuration applied to an individual service.
To view the details of a configuration from the "Your services" page:
Click on the ">" to the right of the service to expand the listing.
If a custom configuration has been applied to the service, the configuration name will be displayed in the "Customization" section. Click on the name to see configuration details.
Create a Configuration
To use an existing configuration as a starting point for a new configuration, clone the existing configuration and then edit it.
To create a new custom configuration without using a clone:
Click on the "Create New Configuration" button on the "Configuration Manager" page.
Enter a configuration name for the new configuration.
Select the appropriate Topology based on the database service you want to configure.
Use the Value dropdown for individual variables to customize the configuration.
Click on the "Save" button.
Saved configurations must be applied to a service to take effect.
Edit a Configuration
To edit an existing configuration:
Click on the Configuration Name.
Click on the "Actions" dropdown button.
Click on the "Edit Configuration" menu option.
Use the Value dropdown for individual variables to edit the configuration.
After you have made your changes, click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
Edited configurations must be applied to a service to take effect.
Clone a Configuration
To use an existing configuration as a starting point for a new configuration:
Click on the Configuration Name.
Click on the "Actions" dropdown button, and choose "Clone Configuration".
The cloned configuration can now be edited or applied to a service.
Apply a Configuration to a Service
Note
Applying a configuration will cause a service to restart. During this time, the service will not be accessible.
Custom configurations must be applied to a service to take effect.
Configurations can be applied from within the Configuration Manager or from the service listing on the "Your services" page.
Apply from "Your services" Page
To apply a configuration to a service from the "Your services" page:
Click on the ">" to the left of the service you want to change.
In the "Customization" section, click the "+ Apply custom configuration" button.
Custom configurations that match the service topology will be displayed. For example, for a Single Node Transactions service, only configurations for Single Node Transactions services will be displayed.
Select the configuration you want to apply to the service.
Click "Apply custom Configuration" button.
Apply in Configuration Manager
Applying a saved configuration from the Configuration Manager gives you the option of applying the same configuration to multiple services at once:
Log in to the SkySQL Portal.
Click on "Configuration Manager" in the SkySQL main menu.
Click on the name of the Configuration you want to apply.
Click on the "Actions" button and click on "Apply to a Service" from the drop down.
Click in the "Services" box to see a list of your services. Services that match the topology will be displayed. For example, for a custom configuration for Single Node Transactions, only your Single Node Transactions services will be displayed.
Click on the name of every service you want to apply the custom configuration to.
With the selected service names in the "Services" box, click on the "Apply" button to apply the custom configuration.
