--user (-u)

Overview

The username to use for the connection.

USAGE

mariadb-shell [{--user | -u} <user_name>]

--user
-u

If omitted, MariaDB Shell tries to connect with the name of the operating system user

MariaDB user name

EXAMPLES

To connect to a host named host.example.com:

$ mariadb-shell \
   --host host.example.com \
   --user user_name \
   --password 'user_password'

To use the short option names, the equivalent command is:

$ mariadb-shell \
   -h host.example.com \
   -u user_name \
   -p 'user_password'
