Spider Deployment Process¶

  1. Choose a topology

  2. Deploy the Spider storage engine:

  3. Create a sharded or federated topology:

    Topology

    Description

    Sharded MariaDB Topology

    • Spider divides a single table into multiple "shards".

    • Each shard is stored on a remote MariaDB server.

    • The client sees only a single local table, so the complexity does not affect usability.

    Federated MariaDB Topology

    • Spider queries a table on a remote MariaDB server to fetch data for a local "virtual" table.

    • The client sees only the local "virtual" table, so the complexity does not affect usability.
