# License

MariaDB Shell is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2, and includes third-party components under their own licenses.

MariaDB Shell is free software, released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPL-2.0). It is a fork of MySQL Shell and carries the copyrights of both projects:

```

The license includes an additional permission to link MariaDB Shell with separately licensed software that it is designed to work with, such as OpenSSL.

## Third-Party Components

MariaDB Shell includes software developed by third parties, such as MariaDB Connector/C, the bundled Python runtime and Python packages, OpenSSL, libssh, libcurl, and compression libraries. These components keep their own licenses, which include the GNU LGPL, the MIT and BSD licenses, the Apache License 2.0, the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and the Python Software Foundation License.
