so in 10.2 its going back to innodb?

Is it a typo that 10.1 uses xtradb in place of innodb as a default. But in 10.2 and later innodb is again the default? 1. Is that true or a typo? 2. Why? Xtradb generally has superior performance. This seems like a step backwards. 3. Now what is the configuration change to restore xtradb and how does one tell which they are using?
