Amazon RDS only offers 3 Instance Types, MySQL, Oracle and SQL Server (for now) If you want to deploy MariaDB you will need to fire up your own EC2 linux instance and install MariaDB. Hopefully as MariaDB gains ground Amazon will add it to the RDS list.
