When reclaiming disk space, assuming you have InnoDB and innodb_file_per_table = 1, instead of the four lines suggested:
ALTER TABLE main FORCE;
This will rebuild the table in one single statement, although it can of course take a long time on big tables. See also https://mariadb.com/kb/en/alter-table/#force
