This problem still exists with the latest 5.3 CentOS rpms. Installing Maria fails with warnings of conflicts with mysql-lib, and I can't remove mysql-lib without removing postfix.
I'd like to switch to Maria, but not being able to install is a show-stopper.
If the community wants uptake of Maria for serious applications, I find it surprising that you are not supporting RHEL6/CentOS6, and that an known issue with the rpms hasn't been fixed with the latest release.
Please respond quickly, or I'm going to have to switch to a different (and probably inferior) version of MySQL.
Are the issues you're having related to Bug #863577? If so please add whatever you can to the bug report. If your errors are unrelated, please report a new bug.
Thanks.
