# CURRENT\_TIMESTAMP

## Syntax

```bnf
CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
CURRENT_TIMESTAMP([precision])
```

## Description

`CURRENT_TIMESTAMP` and `CURRENT_TIMESTAMP()` are synonyms for [NOW()](/docs/server/reference/sql-functions/date-time-functions/now.md).
