Thanks for the reply. No, I am clear on the plugin I need which is PAM plugin. I already downloaded, installed and tested audit plugin which works fine with 5.7. Guess as you said, the PAM plugin may not be compatible with 5.7. Any idea on whether PAM Plugin will be made available to 5.7

You seem to be confused whether you want to install the audit plugin or the PAM plugin. Instructions for installing the audit plugin are there: https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/about-the-mariadb-audit-plugin/

the PAM plugin is not compatible with MySQL 5.7, as far as I know.
