It should be stated that tbl_name (sometimes table_name at various points in this document) can be of the form schema_name.table_name, and that therefore it is possible for instance to select from one database into a table of another database.

I agree, but this should be done for all statements which accept a table name. So, wouldn't it be better to add a specific page about how to qualify a name?

Maybe it should have it's own page, but it still needs to be linked and clearly signposted here. Users start out with questions like "how can I copy stuff from one database to another?" and "can I do a join between tables in different databases?".

I added the coment on the need for this documentation after seeing a comment elewhere that while they had found info on the likes of stackexchange, the poster hadn't been able to find a definitive statement that such things were possible in the mysql docs.
