Comments - upgraded to MariaDB 10.0 but the systemctl status mariadb.service is not working? mysql command works instead?

Thank you so much for the clarification. thanks for the info. that makes sense. I am running Fedora 20. I actually used yum to install mariadb 5.5 from the fedora repo. because I just did yum install mysql mysql-server from the command prompt probaly from fedora website. and then to upgrade to mariadb 10.0 I created a mariadb.repo file which I downloaded from here mariadb.org website. and put it in my /etc/yum dir. and then issued the yum update mariadb mariadb-server command. So, yes I upgraded using the mariadb repo and that is why I lost the mysqld.service and as well as the mariadb.service. I did not know about this. thanks for the help.
