At the moment there are no such plans, but please create a feature request (as detailed as possible) at https://jira.mariadb.org and we can take it up for evaluation.

I tried out the option "obfuscate" function instead replace and it works nice with giving same length as the orign but masked. Additional the combination with the firewall filter works very nice as tested.
The only problematic thing is that masking is only possible onto "char" based columns but not on integer (like for ip address) or date fields (like for birthday) and perhaps other interest types:

Sounds like a very useful feature to have.
