Comments - Moving to the Default Directory

3 years, 4 months ago Ernie M

I am on CentOS 8.2004 all new install. I had moved the data directory and have done this before on many servers in the past. It was all working fine until about a week ago, when the package manager must have updated something in systemd/mariadb and it stopped looking at /etc/my.cnf settings and kept going into the default /var/lib/mysql . That cost me days of misdirection and lost work, and I still do not have it 100% fixed but am very close now. This has more caveats or possible causes of not working right than an average sysadmin can really get ahold of. It really needs more work in many areas of documentation as *wow* . It is good software and thanks. Its just all becoming vastly complex . CentOS 8.2004/Firewalld/Selinux/HTTPD-Apache Virtual Hosts/Remi PHP-FPM FCGI/MariaDB/TLS(SSL)
