The filename must be a fully qualified pathname, otherwise mysqlimport will expect to find it in /var/lib/mysql/<dbname>/ and complain when it doesn't. At least that's what happens to those of use who don't habitually scrap about in the root partition. Using ./ as the path prefix does not suffice.
