Uses for Partitioning
There can be several reasons to use this feature:

  •  In case we separate historical data from recent data, we will probably need to take regular backups of one partition, not the whole table.

How are we expected to do that?

No current backup utilities (mariabackup, mariadb-dump, …) seems to have any option to select only some given partitions inside a table.

Threat a set of identical defined MyISAM tables as one.

I like to threaten my tables sometimes too.
