Replacing MySQL on Centos 6 that is also running Plesk

I have a new Centos 6 server that is running Plesk for the control panel. That's how it came, I'm not crazy about it but trying to work with it.

I want to replace MySQL and use MariaDB

I think the main issue is that Plesk has rename the root user to admin.

I was going to uninstall MySQL and install MariaDB but isn't it going to want to know the password for root???
