Replication Master slave and SSL

I am planning to setup Master Slave replication of MariaDB 10.x DB's , both "in house". The slave is going to be accessable from specific outside world IP-addresses, so i want to give access via SSL. Does that mean that also the (inhouse) connection with Master DB (replication itself) has to be over SSL ?
