MariaDB includes the Semisynchronous replication plugin. To make the functionality available it should be installed first:

MariaDB [(none)]> INSTALL PLUGIN rpl_semi_sync_master SONAME 'semisync_master.so';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec)

MariaDB [(none)]> INSTALL PLUGIN rpl_semi_sync_slave SONAME 'semisync_slave.so';
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

Correct installation can be checked by issuing the SHOW PLUGINS statement.
