The "have_openssl" section states ...have_ssl will be ON, but have_openssl will be OFF
I believe the possible values are YES, NO (and possibly DISABLED) rather than ON or OFF, and using the wrong keyword was a little confusing
(with apologies if I'm showing my ignorance here, and so wasting your time)
Thanks, agree that it's clearer to use the actual values, so I've updated the documentation.
