Looks as if it was MariaDB specific indeed:

"Wrong error message (Unknown error) when idle sessions are killed after wait_timeout" https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-7775

I came to this topic because, after upgrading from b2evolution (< http://b2evolution.net >) version 5.x to version 6.6.x, I have experienced similar errors.

After communicating issue to the b2evolution developer ( < https://github.com/b2evolution/b2evolution/issues/12 >) I was informed that his MySQL based DB servers do not exhibit such errors.

Could this issue be specific to MariaDB 5.5.x and 10.x ?
