Comments - Upgrade vom v5.5 to 10 using OpenSuse 13.1 (64bit) and Intel (no AMD)

The Intel 64bit processors are also using the amd64 architecture if its what you were doubting about, this name has been kept as AMD used this architecture first but now every 64bit Intel CPU are also compatible with it.

x86 is meant for 32bit processors and systems, if you have a modern 64bit processor and OS you should install the amd64 packages.

Thanks for the great answer! Do I have to somehow deinstall v5.5 or does

https://downloads.mariadb.org/mariadb/repositories/#mirror=23Media&version=10.0&distro_release=opensuse13-amd64&distro=openSUSE

will do the job and simply overwrite bin files etc.? If not, is there I "clean" deinstall how-to available?

Thanks again!

you don't have to deinstall 5.5, you can install 10.0 over your existing 5.5 installation
