upgrading from 10.0.38 to 10.3.12

I have a database server with version ==> MySQL Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.0.38-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64) using readline 5.1

I know a lot of things have changed and I'm going to migrate all databases from old to the new one. The problem is, whichever tool I want to use ask for some variables which don't have in the old version like binlog_row_image and I need to use those tools to have zero downtime.

It will be okay to upgrade any 10.1.x version or higher to use such tools.

For configuration options that you want in later versions but that should not be read by earlier versions, you can place them in a specific server group in the config file, for example:

See Configuring MariaDB with Option Files#Server Option Groups.
