We are using MariaDB 10.3.10 with galera clustering 25.3.24. Is it an application design issue or clustering configuration issue?

From this url, the highest version of Galera Cluster shown is 25.3.28. But after I visited https://galeracluster.com/downloads, the latest version is 25.3.29. So the latest version should be 25.3.29?

Galera 25.3.29 has not been released with MariaDB Server yet. That version will probably be released with the next round of MariaDB 10.1, MariaDB 10.2, and MariaDB 10.3 releases.

I don't think there will be any further releases for MariaDB 10.1, as it is approaching EOL by this October(2020).

This is not correct. There's already been a new release of 10.1 with Galera 25.3.29 - https://mariadb.com/kb/en/what-is-mariadb-galera-cluster/. There will also be further releases of 10.1 before EOL: https://jira.mariadb.org/secure/Dashboard.jspa

Does Galera Cluster version 25.3.28 work on MariaDB 10.3.22, the latest version of 10.3.x?

4 years, 4 months ago Geoff Montee

Yes. Galera 25.3.28 was first included in MariaDB 10.3.19. See here:

https://mariadb.com/kb/en/what-is-mariadb-galera-cluster/#galera-3-versions

Galera 25.3.28 will also work with later versions of MariaDB 10.3, so it would be fine to use it with MariaDB 10.3.22.

For my use case I need system tables to be handled by the cluster too.

According to information on the galeracluster homepage http://galeracluster.com/downloads/ the wsrep provider version 25.3.5 relies on the Galera library 3.x bugfix release. I once saw an announcement that library version 3.0 would support replication of system tables, however I cannot find this any more.

According to the information given here https://mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb/mariadb-galera-cluster-known-limitations/ this is still an issue.

Could you clarify on this?

If system table replication is still not supported, i.e. replication using wsrep_replication_myisam is still experimental in 10.0.10, do you have any information about when roughly this might change?

It may be worth highlighting how MariDB Galera Cluster differs from what is known as MySQL Cluster - i.e. NDB cluster...

I was able to get MariaDB Galera cluster setup successfully, I have documented the details here http://jmoses.co/2014/03/18/setting-up-a-mysql-cluster-with-mariadb-galera.html.
