MaxScale Redundancy

MariaDB MaxScale is a SQL proxy, router, load balancer, and firewall.

MaxScale Redundancy is a launch option for MariaDB SkySQL services. The MaxScale Redundancy option is recommended for production workloads.

When MaxScale Redundancy is enabled:

  • Multiple MaxScale nodes are deployed in a highly available (HA) active-active configuration behind round robin load balancing.

  • MaxScale instance size can be selected at time of launch.

  • For MariaDB Platform for Analytics, two MaxScale nodes are deployed for increased fault tolerance.

  • For MariaDB Platform for Distributed SQL, two to five MaxScale nodes can be deployed for increased fault tolerance and scaling of maximum concurrent connections.

  • For MariaDB Platform for Transactions in a Galera Topology, two MaxScale nodes are deployed for increased fault tolerance.

  • For MariaDB Platform for Transactions in a HA (Primary/Replica) Topology, two MaxScale nodes are deployed for increased fault tolerance.
