Regions and Zones

MariaDB SkySQL is available on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

AWS and GCP offer compute resources in multiple locations worldwide. Locations are described as having regions and zones. Regions are specific geographical locations and each region contains one or more zones.

MariaDB SkySQL operates from the following AWS regions and GCP regions:

MariaDB is continuing to deploy SkySQL in additional regions. If you are interested in service from a region that isn't listed, please contact us .

If there is any aspect of SkySQL service that doesn't meet your requirements, please contact us.

MariaDB Platform for Distributed SQL

MariaDB Platform for Distributed SQL on SkySQL includes the ability to deploy in a Distributed Transactions topology, which has additional functionality related to regions and zones.

The Xpand nodes are automatically distributed evenly across 3 zones within the same region. For additional information, see "Distributed SQL Availability".

MariaDB Platform for Transactions

MariaDB Platform for Transactions on SkySQL includes the ability to deploy in a HA (Primary/Replica) replication topology, which has additional functionality related to regions and zones.

The primary node is automatically deployed in a different zone within the same region from the replica nodes to provide isolation and to protect from physical failures. For additional information, see "HA (Primary/Replica) Availability".

Cross-region replicas for Disaster Recovery are optionally available on GCP to Power Tier customers. For additional information, see "Cross-Region Replicas".

MaxScale Redundancy

Some SkySQL services support redundant MaxScale instances.

When redundant MaxScale instances are configured, each MaxScale instance could be created in any of the three zones associated with a region.

For additional information, see "MaxScale Redundancy".
