Transactional Storage on AWS

Overview

This information covers the following MariaDB SkySQL topologies on Amazon AWS:

  • Distributed SQL

  • HA (Primary/Replica)

  • Transactional Standalone

Storage Technology

When deployed on AWS, these services use EBS Provisioned IOPS SSD (io1 type).

Data-at-Rest Encryption

When deployed on AWS, these services use Amazon EBS encryption.

Provisioned IOPS

IOPS are I/O operations per second, a measure of storage performance.

IOPS provisioned per GB of storage are specified at time of service launch on AWS.

The maximum IOPS for a specific service will depend on the provisioned IOPS per GB of storage, the number of GB of storage per node, and the number of nodes; maximum IOPS = provisioned IOPS/GB * GB of storage/node * node count
