Scale Up/Down

MariaDB Platform for Distributed SQL supports the ability to scale-up and scale-down the node count after initial launch.

Scale Up

To scale-up the node count:

  1. Log in to MariaDB SkySQL.

  2. Click on "Your Services" in the SkySQL main menu (left navigation).

  3. Click on the name of the Distributed Transactions topology you want to scale up.

  4. Click on the "Scale" button.

  5. Increase the node count to the desired value, then click "Scale". The maximum node count for the Distributed Transactions topology is 18 nodes.

Node count will be scaled-up. When complete, the Scale button will return from a "Scaling..." state to "Scale".

Scale Down

To scale-down the node count:

  1. Log in to MariaDB SkySQL.

  2. Click on "Your Services" in the SkySQL main menu (left navigation).

  3. Click on the name of the Distributed Transactions topology you want to scale down.

  4. Click on the "Scale" button.

  5. Decrease the node count to the desired value, then click "Scale". The minimum node count for the Distributed Transactions topology is 3 nodes.

Node count will be scaled-up. When complete, the Scale button will return from a "Scaling..." state to "Scale".
