Overview
MariaDB SkySQL is a DBaaS offering from MariaDB Corporation, providing cloud database service based on MariaDB Enterprise.
These release notes show changes made to MariaDB SkySQL as of 2021-10-16.
What's new in this release?
SkySQL Monitoring is now Generally Available (GA).
ColumnStore topology allows deployment with multiple nodes for high availability.
Batch cache added to Smart Transactions to speed up
INSERT
statement processing.Galera topology backed by MariaDB Enterprise Cluster (powered by Galera), is now available as a Technical Preview.
Distributed SQL enters second Technical Preview.
TLS is required for all client connections. TLS 1.1 is no longer supported. TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 are supported.

Updates to SkySQL User Interfaces
Improved user account registration and login experience for faster onboarding.
Customers are now prompted for billing information at time of service launch, rather than at time of account registration.
Name change: "MariaDB Platform for Scale-Out Transactions" is now "MariaDB Platform for Distributed SQL".
MariaDB Enterprise Server 10.5 is now the default for MariaDB Platform for Transactions. Prior to 2020-10-16, MariaDB Enterprise Server 10.4 was the default.
IP allowlist for services and IP allowlist for monitoring now perform additional checks on IPv4 CIDR blocks. The start IP address of the CIDR block must be specified.
Only the owner of SkySQL Teams has access to Account Information. Account Information no longer appears in the SkySQL main menu for other members of the Team.
2020-11-11 update: "Cluster" topology is now "Galera" topology. "Primary/Replica" topology is now "HA (Primary/Replica)" topology.
