# MariaDB now in OpenBSD ports tree

MariaDB 5.5 is now inside of [OpenBSD](http://openbsd.org/), the free, functional & secure OS. The work [started](http://openbsd.7691.n7.nabble.com/NEW-MariaDB-td225534.html) a few weeks ago, and now you can get MariaDB via the [ports](http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/databases/mariadb/) tree. And yes, it will [replace](http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-ports&m=136400373927908&w=2) the current MySQL 5.1 that ships in the next release.
