# MBRTouches

## Syntax

```bnf
MBRTouches(g1,g2)
```

## Description

Returns 1 or 0 to indicate whether the [Minimum Bounding Rectangles](/docs/server/reference/sql-statements/geometry-constructors/mbr-minimum-bounding-rectangle/mbr-definition.md) of the two geometries `g1` and `g2` touch. Two geometries spatially touch if the interiors of the geometries do not intersect, but the boundary of one of the geometries intersects either the boundary or the interior of the other.

## Examples

```sql
SET @g1 = GeomFromText('Polygon((0 0,0 3,3 3,3 0,0 0))');
SET @g2 = GeomFromText('Polygon((4 4,4 7,7 7,7 4,4 4))');
SELECT mbrtouches(@g1,@g2);
+---------------------+
mbrtouches(@g1,@g2)
+---------------------+
                  0
+---------------------+
SET @g1 = GeomFromText('Polygon((0 0,0 3,3 3,3 0,0 0))');
SET @g2 = GeomFromText('Polygon((3 3,3 6,6 6,6 3,3 3))');
SELECT mbrtouches(@g1,@g2);
mbrtouches(@g1,@g2)
                  1
SET @g1 = GeomFromText('Polygon((0 0,0 4,4 4,4 0,0 0))');
SET @g2 = GeomFromText('Polygon((3 3,3 6,6 6,6 3,3 3))');
SELECT mbrtouches(@g1,@g2);
