Overview
MariaDB MaxScale serves as the load balancer in certain MariaDB SkySQL topologies.
By default, topologies that use MaxScale contain only one MaxScale node.
Power Tier customers can optionally deploy MaxScale nodes in a highly available (HA) active-active configuration behind round robin load balancing. When enabled, MaxScale instance size can be selected.
Compatibility
Enterprise Server with Replica(s)
Xpand Distributed SQL with 3 or more nodes
ColumnStore Data Warehouse
Enable MaxScale Redundancy
MaxScale Redundancy can be enabled at time of service launch using the SkySQL DBaaS API or Terraform Provider.
For information about how to enable MaxScale redundancy with the SkySQL DBaaS API, see "MaxScale Redundancy Selections with the SkySQL DBaaS API".
