Distributions Which Include MariaDB

The following distributions include MariaDB in their package repositories. For these you can use the distribution's management system to install MariaDB.

Linux Distributions

• GNU/Linux KDu — features the latest MariaDB 5.5 release, replacing MySQL as a default since version GNU/Linux KDu 2.0 Final (future release)
• Mageia — features the latest MariaDB 5.5 release, replacing MySQL as a default
• Gentoo
• openSUSE — MariaDB 5.5 is now the default "MySQL" database in OpenSuse 12.3. MariaDB 10.0 is available in the obs repository
• Slackware
• Arch Linux — features MariaDB 5.5, replacing MySQL as a default
• ALTLinux
• MariaDB Debian Live Images
• Parabola GNU/Linux
• TurboLinux
• The Chakra Project — features the latest MariaDB 5.5 release, replacing MySQL as a default
• Fedora — MariaDB 5.5 is now the default "MySQL" database since Fedora 19
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux — MariaDB 5.5 is now the default "MySQL" database since RHEL 7

BSD Distributions

• FreeBSD — MariaDB 5.3 is available in the ports tree and the FreeBSD Manual has instructions on Installing Applications: Packages and Ports
  • MariaDB on FreshPorts
• OpenBSD — MariaDB 5.5 will replace the current MySQL 5.1 port for the next release.

Mac OS X Distributions

• MacPorts. This provides mariadb and mariadb-server. A quick guide on how to install it.

Upcoming distributions that will support MariaDB

• Fedora 19 will use MariaDB as default
• Next Slackware release will use MariaDB as default and remove MySQL
