I cannot reproduce this behaviour. I Used the MariaDB server 10.0.15 directly or via the MySQL ODBC 5.2a Driver and could successfully read and write CONNECT tables.

However I could not use the MariaDB ODBC 1.0 Driver (beta) because the connection crashed.

Unfortunately, this is all I can tell now.
