Comments - How to change Innodb fileformat to Barracuda

innodb_file_format_max was set to Antelope, after adjusting this to Barracuda I tried again but it still creates Antelope tables.

The variables are set as: innodb_file_per_table ON innodb_file_format Barracuda innodb_file_format_check ON innodb_file_format_max Barracuda

Probably what's happening is that you're seeing the table tagged with the simplest file format required for that row format. So, if the row format is Compact, it is still tagged as Antelope, even if Barracuda is available. If you alter the row format to something only available to Barracuda, as Daniel suggests below, you'll see that the file format changes to Barracuda.

xtradbinnodb-storage-formats/#compressed suggests that setting innodb_strict_mode.

ALTER TABLE (ROW_FORMAT=DYNAMIC) should be able to change the format.
