ibdata1 keeps growing in size and causing out of space on the disk

we have a mariadb instance running on 10.10.2 version. We are doing nightly imports to the DB. However, when we create the mariadb server instance for the first time, the size of ibdata1 is less. As time goes by, ibdata1 keeps growing in size and saw that reach 500G and occupies the full disk size of the VM. And this causes out of space issue.

Is there a way to solve this problem and not run out of space?

Do the answers at https://dba.stackexchange.com/questions/284699/mariadb-how-to-reduce-ibdata-file-size help?

As an aside, are you aware that MariaDB 10.10.2 is a short-term release, EOL in November? https://mariadb.org/about/#maintenance-policy
