How we work

Working together

Our remote and hybrid work model empowers flexibility while staying firmly anchored in shared accountability and culture. Regardless of where we log in, we bring our values to life through every interaction and deliverable. By uniting operational freedom with personal accountability, we ensure distance never diminishes our connection, our standards or our collective drive.

Fully remote

Work from wherever you do your best work. As a remote-first organization, we give you the flexibility, tools and autonomy to drive real results from anywhere. We prioritize outcomes over seat time, pairing day-to-day freedom with proactive communication, mutual trust and an inclusive team culture across every time zone.

Hybrid

Our hybrid model combines the focus and flexibility of working from home with the energy of being together in person. We plan office time with intention, so face-to-face moments are spent on connection and brainstorming. The rest of the time, you have the freedom to shape your focused work around how you do your best thinking.

Employee experience

Hear from our team

“MariaDB is in an exciting phase of growth, and working with the partnerships and marketing teams means being right at the heart of that momentum. It’s fast-paced and full of ambition but what makes it rewarding is the culture: good people who support each other, think big and pull in the same direction. There’s a shared determination to build something great, and it’s exciting to help shape what comes next.”

Ashleigh Auld

Channel Partner Marketing Manager

“There’s always something new to learn here, and the problems are never boring. Sometimes solving them even means contributing a change to one of the open-source projects we rely on. Beyond that, every engineer here has real impact: freedom and ownership to take a feature from idea to production. And I get all of it at a company that understands people have families and lives away from their desks.”

Kalin Arsov

Principal Software Engineer

“What I appreciate most about MariaDB is how much room there is to grow beyond your job title. In the past year, I’ve helped bring SkySQL and GridGain into our support organization following acquisitions, stepped in to cover a teammate’s customer accounts and earned new customer accounts myself, and partnered with our finance team to take hours of manual work off their plates by utilizing AI. What ties it all together is the people; everyone from support to payroll is open to trying a better way of doing things, and good work gets noticed here. If you like solving real problems with smart, generous colleagues, this is a great place to do it.”

Caleb Terry

Professional Services Consultant

“I am nearly a year into my time as a solution engineer at MariaDB and I’ve been loving every minute of it. Customers are delighted to be partnered with us, our engineers and technical solutions are first rate, and we’ve got an amazing crew in support. On the internal side, it’s great to have solid leadership, a wonderful boss, and a team that’s always gracious and generous to collaborate with. From my first call with MariaDB recruiting to my most recent internal Zoom call with a delightful international cast of top-notch professionals, MariaDB has been a phenomenal place to call my work home.”
