MariaDB Community Server 12.3 Will Include Galera Cluster

Community feedback is an important part of MariaDB, and recently, you made your voices heard regarding the inclusion of Galera Cluster in the 12.3 series. We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who reached out – especially Frédéric (lefred) Descamps and René Bonvanie, whose impassioned perspectives were instrumental in our review.

We’ve thoroughly considered your feedback and decided that now is not the time for a major change. This means that the upcoming release of MariaDB Community Server 12.3 will include Galera Cluster libraries.

Robust High Availability Options with MariaDB

• Robust Structure Changes: Full replication support for ALTER TABLEs with structure changes.
• Expanded Temporal Table: Full temporal table support in replication.
• Simplified Configuration: Adding default values for the CHANGE MASTER TO replication command to streamline setup.

For organizations that need additional stability and scalability, we provide two paths within our enterprise portfolio:

• MariaDB Enterprise Cluster: Built on Galera and optimized for rock-solid stability in mission-critical production. It includes features critical for large-scale operations, such as comprehensive monitoring tools, easier management, and seamless integration with MariaDB Enterprise Server features.

• MariaDB Advanced Cluster (Tech Preview): Powered by the Raft protocol for improved scalability and data consistency across geographic regions. It provides access to the newest clustering innovations and advanced features for disaster recovery, security, and high-volume transaction processing, ensuring your database infrastructure is future-proof.
