HELSINKI, FINLAND – 23 JANUARY 2014 – SkySQL, the trusted experts in MariaDB and MySQL database software, today announced the general availability of MariaDB Enterprise. The company’s newest product makes it simple for database administrators and developers to deploy advanced, high-availability clustering in support of the most demanding applications.
MariaDB Enterprise builds on the widely adopted open source MariaDB Server and Galera Cluster software by enabling users to provision a cluster of separate database servers in minutes. Once up and running, MariaDB Enterprise helps users manage and monitor their clustered database resources with an intuitive dashboard.
Rich Sands, Product Manager for MariaDB Enterprise said, “High availability is a core requirement for today’s customer-facing web and enterprise applications yet until now configuring such solutions has been complex and error-prone. MariaDB Enterprise reduces the potential for human error that is often the root cause of downtime by including an intuitive management interface and RESTful API. DBAs and developers in enterprises of all sizes will welcome a tool that makes such advanced technology easily accessible.”
Matt Aslett, Research Director, Data Management and Analytics at 451 Research said, “We are seeing growing adoption of both MariaDB as a drop-in replacement for MySQL, as well as Galera Cluster’s synchronous replication capabilities. With MariaDB Enterprise, SkySQL gives MariaDB and Galera adopters the confidence of commercial support as well as monitoring and management functionality, without compromising the commitment to open source.”
Patrik Sallner, CEO at SkySQL said, “Using MariaDB Enterprise solves a critical problem for developers, database administrators and system administrators: easily achieving the highest levels of database uptime for their business-critical enterprise and Cloud-based applications.”
MariaDB Enterprise is sold as a renewable one year subscription, which includes up to 24×7 coverage, all maintenance updates and patches, and quick access to the experienced support team at SkySQL. The software is open source and runs on the Linux operating system. It can be installed on-premise, in virtualized or cloud environments.
MariaDB Enterprise uses Galera Cluster, a synchronous, multi-master replication technology that is rapidly gaining adoption where fully redundant databases are required. It can manage Galera Clusters implemented with MariaDB or MySQL databases.
