SAN JOSE, California – May 9, 2011 – SkySQL Inc., the first choice in affordable MySQL® database solutions for the enterprise and cloud, today announced that SkyVantage, the leading provider of real-time cloud-based airline reservations and management systems, has chosen SkySQL as the support provider of choice for its MySQL databases. SkyVantage joins a growing list of U.S. companies that have made the switch to SkySQL for its MySQL database software, services, and support.
With today’s announcement, SkyVantage has signed a multi-year agreement with SkySQL for professional services and support for its MySQL databases, as well as DRBD-–a component of the recently launched SkySQL™ Reference Architecture. The company will use the high availability MySQL solution to power its real-time, cloud-based airline reservations and management systems.
“When it comes to entrusting our high availability production MySQL servers to a support provider, quality reigns king,” said Cory Robin, CEO at SkyVantage Corporation. “That’s because we provide the most advanced airline reservations and management software to many of the foremost airlines in the travel industry. We were hard pressed to find any other provider with the experience of SkySQL, which could ensure the proper MySQL support for both SkyVantage and our customers. Their tenacity in backing our MySQL databases and frankly, their honest enthusiasm about the work that they do have made SkySQL the best choice we could have made.”
Under the agreement, SkySQL will provide support for the MySQL databases behind the SkyVantage Airline Management System (SVAMS), the most advanced and fastest growing, cloud-based passenger services system in the airline industry. With this agreement, SkySQL will be supporting the entire reservations and operations infrastructure for more than 30 leading airlines, including Southern Air, Central American Airways, and IBC Travel, Inc.
“We are honored to be chosen by SkyVantage to support their mission-critical systems,” said Matt Fredrickson, director of North America sales for SkySQL. “We knew that entrusting their MySQL databases for their customer-facing SVAMS system was no easy task for SkyVantage, so their selection of SkySQL is very significant. It’s an affirmation of our readiness to support high availability, cloud-based MySQL solutions from a leader in the airline industry, as well as confirmation of our ability to meet those needs for similar enterprises.”
