Description

Modern geospatial application development has moved beyond traditional database-centric methodologies. The shift to open API standards and cloud-first technologies has changed the landscape. MariaDB is embracing this movement and launching a geospatial data platform designed especially for today’s developers. In this talk, Glenn Stowe, Product Manager at MariaDB, presents MariaDB SkySQL Geospatial – a cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) for managing geospatial data and making it available through a suite of fast, scalable, open web services. Based on open standards produced by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), these REST APIs are already fully supported by hundreds of web and desktop applications, frameworks and dashboards. It "flattens the stack" for developers. Integration with the SkySQL ecosystem of services makes it quick and simple to get started with geospatial in the cloud, without having to be an expert.
